All About My Cecostomy Surgery!

On the first day at the hospital I went to my room and got ready for Tuesday, the surgery day. I had an IV put in my arm for the whole five day’s.

Before the IV I watched a movie called Megamind at the hospital movie theatre.  Then I went to bed still with the IV on my hand.

Some doctors and nurses came in my room in the middle of the night when I was sleeping to see how I was doing.

The next morning I got ready for the surgery. I had a really good breakfast in the morning. I rested and watched some TV in the whole morning.

Then it was lunch time.  It was an awesome lunch. I did some activities in the afternoon.

After it was time for surgery.  I was very scared at first but when it happened I was not scared.

After I had a long sleep.  Then I watched some TV with Mum.

Then I was hungry, so I had some biscuits when I played cards with Grandma until Dad came to take Mum home.

Then it was tea for me.  It was delicious.

Then I watched hockey.  Toronto was playing the Hurricanes.  Toronto won!  The score was 5 to 3.

Then Dad was back.  I was asleep by then.  The next morning it was time for the nurses to do the button.

After it was time to go home.  They took out the IV, then I jumped out of bed.  Then we got ready to go home.

When I got home I ran to my room and jumped on my bed.  I was happy I got to go home.

Now that was the story about my Cecostomy Surgery.

The End!

Great sharing about your surgery Caleb. You were so brave and it was fun having sleepovers in hospital with you (and baby Elijah in my tummy), even though I was making you laugh so much it hurt your stomach. You sure do like your food don’t you? Good thing that you like popsicles so much. I think I lost count of how many you had, as that was all you were allowed to eat for quite a few days. One of my favourite parts was when you woke me in the middle of the night and asked if we could pray together for the nurses that were looking after you. They sure did a good job didn’t they? I also love how many people were praying for you and your surgery. God was and still IS very much with you as you have these treatments Caleb. You are doing great!!

    Love from Mum xoxo

Wow Caleb sounds like you were pretty brave, I remember when I was about your age and had to stay in the hospital for a couple days too but no surgery for me. My favorite part was they said I could have as much ice cream as I wanted. Hope your feeling better now mate.

    Hey Caleb:
This is great reading about your surgery. I remember that time well; your cool, green striped pyjamas, your remote bed and TV, your mum/dad’s bed along the window and playing cards with you but most of all I remember how brave you were. You are one special boy and we love you so very much.
I can hardly wait to see what you write about next!
    love Grandma

Hi Caleb! I learned about your blog from your youtube video about your Cecostomy Tube Replacement. My nephew, Mark, is 7 and will be having Cecostomy surgery soon. Will you tell me more about how you felt before hand? Mark is very scared about feeling the surgery and that it will hurt. I thought that maybe if he heard from someone who had been through it, he would be a little less scared. If you don’t want to, that’s okay, too. Either way, Thank You SO MUCH for your time and your wonderful blog. I will be passing the link on to his Mom.
